I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing exclusively in the treatment of patients with problems of the shoulder and elbow. This includes the whole spectrum of modern minimally invasive, keyhole and arthroscopic techniques, shoulder and elbow replacements, joint resurfacing procedures, revision surgery and complex reconstruction.
I was a scholarship pupil at St Paul’s School in London, studied medicine at Cambridge University (Queens’ College) and completed my clinical training at Imperial School of Medicine, qualifying as a doctor in 1998. My specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery was on the highly regarded North-West Thames rotation in London, followed by extensive training in shoulder and elbow surgery and reconstruction, which included a fellowship in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest centres in Europe. I was also selected for a prestigious year-long advanced training fellowship working with one of the world’s leading surgeons, Professor Pascal Boileau, in Nice, France.
Since 2011 I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust based at the Lister Hospital,Stevenage and QEII Hospital, Welwyn Garden City. I am also part of the Hertfordshire Orthopaedic Centre and my private practice is based at the Spire Harpenden Hospital and Pinehill Hospital, Hitchin.
Shoulder conditions I treat include: sports injuries, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, subacromial impingement, bursitis, calcific tendonitis, rotator cuff syndrome, biceps tendon disorders, shoulder joint dislocations and instability, labral tears, SLAP lesions, arthritis, fractures and traumatic injuries, clavicle injuries and fractures, acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) disruptions and dislocations, ACJ arthritis.
Elbow conditions I treat include: tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), ulnar nerve entrapment and neuropathy (cubital tunnel syndrome), fractures and dislocations, instability, ligament injuries, biceps tendon ruptures, loose bodies, arthritis, forearm fractures.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have published many research papers, presented my work at numerous national and international conferences and have been awarded a MD Higher Research degree from the University of London. I am also responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees surgery for shoulder and elbow disorders and trauma and am a faculty member and lecturer on courses held to teach advanced surgical techniques.
I live in Harpenden with my wife Kim and three young children, Ollie, Sasha and Ella. I spend most of my spare time with my family and enjoy golf and skiing.
